We present the new LUNA speckled stoneware, which contains melting minerals that create a seductive surface with dark dots of different sizes and shades that stand out in an ivory white matrix.
It has a high content of impalpable chamotte 0-0.2 mm that provides excellent behaviour during drying and firing. It is ideal for artistic ceramics and the use of transparent glazes will enhance the vibrancy of the speckled effect.
The LUNA joins our range of SIO-2® Specialty Clays, and is suitable for both professionals and hobbyists.

Important advice
The vividness of the spots of LUNA clay is caused by natural minerals that may include traces of other minerals that can rehydrate after firing at a low temperature and cause flaking. To avoid it, it is recommended to fire the biscuit at a higher temperature (1050-1080ºC / Cone 04) and increase the soak time. If you work directly in single firing, the problem does not arise.
(*) Firing range recommended for the clay to develop its best performance, both in terms of technical and safety characteristics, under conventional firing conditions. The colour samples may show temperatures outside the recommended range to provide a broader view, but these are pieces fired under controlled conditions.
