If you are a fan of hobby ceramics, we invite you to take a step forward and get started with SIO-2® porcelain clays, available in various colours. Porcelain is the ideal material for ceramic jewellery and for small utility and decorative pieces. Follow the steps below to make your first piece of porcelain jewellery:

Take a portion of SIO-2® Black Ice porcelain and roll into a ball.

Spread the ball with the help of the SIO-2® wooden roller until a homogeneous sheet about 3 mm thick is obtained. As the clay spreads, take it off and turn it sideways to achieve greater homogeneity. Roll the roller in several directions so that the sheet spreads out in a circular fashion.

Mark on the clay the relief or texture that you like the most.

Textures and reliefs provide a custom finish that stands out after subsequent glaze application.

Take a 6 cm circular cutter, place it to your liking on the marked relief and press hard.

Remove the excess clay, taking care not to deform it.

Peel the clay from the cutter. You can help yourself by pressing on the inside with your finger, trying not to deform the piece.

Take a 3 cm circular cutter, place it to your liking on the piece made and press hard. Rotate the cutter to easily disengage it from the part. Unmould the inner piece with your finger, trying not to deform it. The largest piece will be the pendant and the inner piece will be the ring.

Take a 2 cm circular cutter, place it to your liking on the leftover textured clay and make a new piece.

Repeat the operation. The 2 small pieces will be the earrings.

With the help of an awl or wooden toothpick, make the holes in the 2 small pieces.

When the pieces allow to be manipulated without deformation (you will see it because they begin to change colour), polish the edges with a damp sponge. Use the sponge to smooth out any irregularities that have remained on the surface of the pieces, such as folds, grooves, etc.

Once the piece is dry (you will see it by the colour change), paint the front area with ceramic glaze. Check out the wide variety of colours and effects available. Apply 2 or 3 coats of glaze. Check the manufacturer's recommendations for each type of glaze.

Take the piece to be fired in a ceramic kiln. As it is porcelain, we recommend firing at a high temperature (1250ºC) so that the finish is perfect. Check the list of the firing service closest to your home (list in Spain).

Arrange the trimmings and beads to your liking. Your fantastic porcelain jewellery set is now ready to show off. ALWAYS ENJOY IT!
