I tried it recently, super nice clay body and lovely firing color! Is there any recommended glear glaze (glossy or matte) that could preserve the terra cotta color at cone 6?

The warm, high-fire color of MARTE clay is the result of the natural chromophore elements present in its composition. At cone 6, these elements can interact with certain glaze ingredients (zinc being one of the most reactive). For this reason, finding a clear glaze (glossy or matte) that fully preserves the terracotta tone can be challenging. To minimize unwanted reactions, we strongly recommend using zinc-free glazes and applying them only in the amount specified by the manufacturer. This helps maintain the characteristic color of MARTE while ensuring a stable and predictable result in high-temperature firings.
