SIO-2 PRAF white sculpture/raku 0-0.5mm 12.5kg
White sculpture/raku 0-0.5 mm
White sculpture/raku clay with 40 % fine grog 0-0.5 mm (up to 35 Mesh). Formulated for artistic ceramics, it is ideal for sculpture, murals and Raku pieces. The high content of grog confers a beautiful textured surface and an excellent behaviour during drying and firing. Its particular ivory colour after firing is much appreciated and provides an excellent ware for glazes and colouring oxides, which develop bright and intense tones. It is also known as “Rafael” clay, and it is very popular because of its excellent behaviour for Raku. Available in extruded body (moist form).
Firing range*: 1240-1300 ºC / Cone 6-11
Biscuit temperature: 1000 ºC / Cone 06
Water content: 17 %
Plasticity (IP Atterberg): 16
Carbonate content (CaCO3): 0 %
Drying shrinkage: 5.4 %
Firing shrinkage 1300 ºC: 4.6 %
Porosity (water absorption) at 1300 ºC: 4.1 %
Dry bending strength: 2.4 N/mm2
Fired bending strength 1300 ºC: 33.5 N/mm2
Thermal coefficient 1250 ºC (25-500 ºC): 59.8x10^-7 ºC^-1
Available in the United States and Canada. ACMI AP Seal. Conforms to ASTM D-4236.
(*) Firing range recommended for the clay to develop its best performance, both in terms of technical and safety characteristics, under conventional firing conditions. The colour samples may show temperatures outside the recommended range to provide a broader view, but these are pieces fired under controlled conditions. Cone equivalence according to Orton table for self-supporting cones, regular-SSB and 60 ºC/hr heating rate.
