Opal Lustre is a stoneware glaze with a glossy finish and an opalescent effect, offering a surface rich in nuances and subtle color variations. Its soft reflections add depth and movement to the piece, creating an elegant and distinctive result, where each firing may show slight differences depending on kiln conditions and application.

It is formulated for high-temperature firings, working in an approximate range between 1180 °C (cone 5) and 1300 °C (cone 10). Around 1180–1240 °C (cones 5–6), it develops softer, more controlled tones with a clean and even gloss. At higher temperatures, between 1260 and 1300 °C (cones 9–10), the glaze gains greater chromatic depth and visual movement, and break effects in textures and reliefs become more pronounced.

The final result depends on the thickness of the application, the type of clay used, and the firing atmosphere, performing well in both oxidation and reduction, with different nuances in each case. Thinner layers produce more delicate finishes, while heavier applications create more intense colors and stronger variations.

It is a glaze suitable for both decorative and functional pieces, as long as it is properly applied and fired, perfect for those seeking a luminous, sophisticated finish with a strong personality.
