Green Jasper is a crystalline stoneware glaze with a glossy finish and an apparently transparent base that reacts dynamically with the texture of the clay, revealing green and blue metallic crystals that create visual movement on the surface.

This glaze is designed for mid- to high-temperature firings, performing well in both oxidation and reduction, and behaving differently depending on temperature and application. Around 1180–1240 °C (cones 5–6), it maintains a clear base with well-defined green and blue crystals, while at 1260–1300 °C (cones 9–10), the base remains stable and the crystals may develop warmer metallic tones, even reddish in reduction, adding depth and variety to the final result.

The final appearance depends on many factors: the type of clay, the thickness of the application, and the firing schedule all influence how the crystals distribute and which nuances emerge. For balanced results, it is important to mix the glaze well before each use and to avoid concentrating too many crystals at the bottom of the piece, as they tend to flow more than the base during firing.

This glaze is ideal for artistic pieces where a sophisticated crystalline effect with subtle, dynamic, and visually engaging variations is desired, although it is always recommended to make prior tests in your own kiln to anticipate its behavior on your clay body.
